Office Assistant required to work as part of an established team based in Bishopsteignton, Devon.

Your role will involve working in a busy office as part of a team providing office support to a group of professionals.
You will be assisting the existing staff with administration, such as formatting reports, filing, letters, updating spreadsheets and files, scanning, post and phone calls.

Previous experience of working in administration and in an office environment is essential.
You must be proficient with keyboard and IT applications (this will be tested during the selection process).

Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel is essential; level of expertise supported by relevant qualifications would be desirable.

You must have excellent organisational skills, and the ability to multi-task is essential.
Knowledge of health care/legal business would be desirable but not essential.

The ability to exercise discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters is essential.

Up to 37.5 hours per week, Mondays - Fridays.

Temporary Contract for 6 months

£18,500 - £19,500 per annum.

Required to work with a 24 year old man with cerebral palsy and learning disabilities. Based at the client’s home, the role will include personal care and community activities.
The client needs support workers to help him find new and exciting activities to fill his week. He lives in the Woodford Valley near Salisbury and has an adapted property and vehicle. The support team have their own bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. Join the team to help the client with his hobbies: PS4, swimming, therapy and social activities/going out.
Previous experience of caring for people with physical and learning disabilities is essential.
A full driving licence is essential as you will be required to drive an automatic wheelchair accessible vehicle.
An NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in care and competent IT skills are desirable.
Support is needed 24 hours per day with 12 hours shifts (8.00am to 8.00pm, 8.00pm to 8.00am with 8 hours at National Living Wage for sleeping shifts 10.00pm to 6.00am).

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will work as part of a team that provides 24/7 support to our client, a man in his twenties who, after a birth injury, presents with mild cerebral palsy, treatment resistant epilepsy, left sided hemiplegia and mild to moderate learning disabilities.

You will work at his home in the Carlyon Bay area, supporting him with all areas of daily living, including domestic, household, vocational, leisure and socialising activities, as well as personal care.

Ensuring his safety and physical wellbeing at all times, you will facilitate the client’s independence, treating him with respect and dignity.

Your role will also involve:

- Liaising with, and supporting the client’s family as required
- Enabling the client to use local amenities such as shops and leisure facilities
- Assisting the client to ensure an adequate level of hygiene is maintained

About You

To be considered as a Support Worker, you will need:

- Experience caring for people with physical or learning disabilities
- A good understanding of the personal and physical needs of a client with physical and cognitive difficulties
- A warm, patient and caring demeanour
- The ability to work as part of a team and use your own initiative
- Excellent communication skills
- A full, valid driving licence

An NVQ or equivalent qualification would be beneficial to your application, as would competent IT skills.

Recent training in the following areas would also be an advantage: equality and diversity, health and safety at work, control of substances hazardous to health, fire safety awareness, infection control, food hygiene, manual handling, first aid, basic life support including CPR, safeguarding vulnerable adults, conflict management, and/or lone working.

This role involves working a mixture of shifts, including 8am-8am (with an 8-hour sleep),
8am-8pm and 8pm-8am (waking night).

I am a fit and mobile fifty something man with a thirst for life and adventure. I am seeking a support worker to join my team permanently for 36 hours per week, who have a reputation for providing support in an understanding, flexible and empathetic way. This would mean working for 3 days per week from 7am – 7pm, including every third weekend.

I have a structured timetable designed with me to access meaningful and enjoyable activities within the community, which provides me with a sense of purpose, fulfilment, and self-worth. I sometimes find life challenging and frustrating, due to my brain injury however I have a structured program which enables me to work with my team to overcome these difficulties.
I am seeking a person with a strong desire to have a positive effect on me, and a commitment to supporting and promoting my individual needs, skills, abilities and personal goals.

Personal qualities of resilience, empathy and self-confidence are as important as previous experience. Although an understanding of behavioural management would be an advantage. Having similar interests in the outdoors and walking which I do each day, so being fit enough to keep up with me is important!

Full driving licence and own car essential. Mileage on shift is paid at .45p per mile.

3 x 12-hour shift per week, a variation of days could be accommodated. (To include a Saturday and Sunday each third weekend).
